What's Included:
The 7-in-1 Wi-Fi Weather Station features an outdoor sensor array that measures wind speed (anemometer), wind direction (wind vane), temperature (thermometer), humidity (hygrometer), rainfall (rain gauge), light intensity (light sensor), and barometric pressure (barometer) simultaneously. The indoor console features a 7.5-inch HD display with 4-level dimming that shows all sensor readings plus calculated values for wind chill, dew point, moon phase, and calendar with automatic internet time sync. The station connects to Wi-Fi for real-time smartphone monitoring and supports Weather Underground and WeatherCloud, two global citizen science networks with over 250,000 stations worldwide. Students can contribute their data to a real scientific observation system used by meteorologists, researchers, and emergency managers. The outdoor sensor is solar powered with rechargeable Ni-MH batteries for nighttime and cloudy weather operation, IPX6 waterproof rated, and transmits up to 150 meters wirelessly.
The curriculum follows three integrated learning tracks across all grade bands. The Earth Science Track covers weather observation, atmospheric science, the water cycle, air pressure systems, weather fronts, severe weather, seasonal patterns, climate vs. weather, and global atmospheric circulation. The Data Science Track covers daily data collection, graphing, pattern recognition, multi-variable analysis, statistical methods (mean, median, range, standard deviation, correlation), prediction and verification, and comparison to historical climate normals. The 23-page curriculum guide covers four grade bands (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12), each with learning objectives, detailed activities, and alignment to NGSS (Earth's systems, weather and climate, energy, engineering design), CCSS Math (counting, measurement, data representation, statistics, ratios, correlation), CCSS ELA (descriptive writing, informative text, lab reports, research papers), and CTE career pathways (environmental science, agriculture, data science).
Younger students build a daily weather check-in routine, track five days of weather and spot patterns, compare what they feel outside to what the sensors read, and graph temperature changes across a day. Elementary students collect multi-variable weather data across 2-4 weeks to discover the relationship between pressure and precipitation, trace the water cycle through real station readings (evaporation, condensation, precipitation, collection), test whether barometric pressure reliably predicts weather changes, and investigate how light intensity affects the station's solar panel output. Middle schoolers construct wind roses from weeks of direction data, track a storm system from first pressure drop through peak intensity and clearing using all seven sensors simultaneously, run statistical analyses on temperature data, and compare their readings to nearby stations on Weather Underground. High schoolers compare monthly station averages to NOAA 30-year climate normals and calculate anomalies, evaluate the station's measurement accuracy against the nearest official ASOS station, run correlation analyses between variables (does humidity predict rainfall? does pressure correlate with temperature?), and design and execute original meteorology research projects with formal papers.
