Watercolor Fine Arts Curriculum Kit Grade 3-12

A complete watercolor studio in one kit, paired with a 27-page standards-aligned curriculum guide for Grades 3 through 12. This is not a coloring set. It brings together the three tools every watercolor artist actually uses, paint, watercolor pencils, and brushes, along with a heavyweight journal built to hold water, and turns them into a real art, color-science, and creative-expression program. Students learn to mix any color from a small palette, control value with nothing but water, and paint with intention, while the curriculum makes the science visible on every page.

What's Included

The 5-Piece White Taklon Brush Set is a set of short-handle synthetic brushes in a mix of round and flat shapes and sizes. White Taklon is soft and springy, holds a good load of water, and snaps back to a point, which makes it forgiving for beginners and precise enough for detail.

The Heavyweight Cold-Press Watercolor Journal has 22 sheets of 5.5 by 8 inch paper with a side wire binding. Cold-press paper has a lightly textured surface that grabs pigment, and the heavier weight resists buckling when wet. The journal format is portable and builds a dated portfolio of a student's growth over time.

The 36-Color Watercolor Pencil Set lets students draw with control like a colored pencil, then activate the marks with a wet brush to melt them into soft washes. It is the clearest bridge between drawing and painting.

The 12-Color Watercolor Paint Set provides twelve colors at 12 mL each. A small, deliberate palette teaches color mixing rather than color picking. From the primaries in the set, students mix the full secondary and tertiary range.

Additional Supplies Suggested (sold separately)

Two water cups for rinsing and clean water, a mixing palette or white plate, masking tape to keep paper flat, extra cold-press paper for extended practice, and a smock. Optional supplies for older or more advanced work include a spray mister, table salt for texture, white wax crayon or masking fluid for resist techniques, a fine waterproof pen for ink-and-wash, and small natural objects for still-life painting.

The 27-page guide runs three learning tracks in one document: an art track built on the National Core Arts Standards, a science track that connects painting to light, color, and pigment through NGSS, and a regulation and wellness track that treats watercolor as the calming, mindful activity it naturally is. Grades 9-12 (Studio Practice, Portfolio and Careers) develop a cohesive body of work with limited palettes, study master artists and pigment science, write artist statements, and research real careers in the visual arts.
