5pc Full Size Drum Kit Grades 6-12
Go from first beat to full groove with the 5-Piece Acoustic Drum Set, paired with a 19-page standards-aligned curriculum guide for Grades 6 through 12. A drum set is really a small orchestra of percussion played by one person, with all four limbs working together, and this full-size kit gives students the real thing: a bass drum played with the foot, a snare, three toms, and two cymbals. The curriculum turns that kit into a genuine drumming course, building from setup and the first steady rock beat all the way to genre-fluent grooves, fills, and performance.
What's Included
The kit centers on a 22 inch bass drum with a foot pedal, the deep, low heartbeat of the groove, and a 14 inch snare drum on an adjustable stand, which carries the sharp backbeat and is where most stick technique is learned. Three toms, the 10 inch and 12 inch mounted toms and a 16 inch floor tom, give the kit its melodic range for fills, from high to low. A 16 inch suspended crash cymbal adds bright accents, and a pair of 14 inch hi-hat cymbals on a pedal stand keep time and open and close with the foot. An adjustable drum throne completes the setup so students can sit with good posture and reach every drum and pedal.
Additional Supplies Suggested (sold separately)
Drumsticks, with a 5A a common all-around size, and a quiet practice pad for building technique. A metronome, the single most important tool for developing steady time. Hearing protection, since acoustic drums are loud. A drum rug to keep the kit from creeping, a music stand for charts and the worksheets, and a drum key and spare heads for tuning and upkeep.
Curriculum Overview
The 19-page guide teaches drumming as both a musical skill and an applied science. It aligns to the National Core Arts Standards for Music, NGSS physical science, CCSS Math and ELA, and CTE. A How Drums Make Sound science explainer opens the guide, covering how vibration makes sound, how a drum's size and head tension set its pitch, how striking harder changes loudness, and why hearing protection matters. From there, students learn to set up and tune the kit, read rhythm, build coordination, and play real grooves.
Grade Band Summary
Grades 6-8 (Drum Set Foundations) set up and tune the kit, learn its parts and basic notation, build the core rock beat and foundational rudiments, and develop steady time and four-limb coordination. Grades 9-12 (Grooves, Genres and Performance) play grooves across genres with independence and dynamics, read intermediate notation, develop fills and soloing, play with other musicians, and connect drumming to music and audio careers.
