Anger Awareness and Self-Regulation Kit with Grades PreK-2 Curriculum
Give young children a real, physical way to move through big feelings with the Anger Awareness and Self-Regulation Kit, paired with a 28-page standards-aligned curriculum guide for Grades PreK through 2. This kit pairs four very different tools around one goal: helping a child notice a big feeling, name it, and do something with the energy behind it before it turns into hitting, yelling, or shutting down. The books and workbook build the words for feelings, while the therapy putty and the Floor Surfer give the body a way to discharge them, so the kit covers both halves of self-regulation at once.
Please note: this kit is an educational resource, not a substitute for therapy or medical care. If a child's anger is frequent, intense, or affecting daily life, consult a pediatrician, child therapist, or school counselor.
What's Included
The Anger Management Workbook for Kids is a 78-page, 8 by 10 inch activity workbook that introduces triggers, the "anger monster," breathing and meditation exercises, and thought reframing, with dozens of coloring, tracing, and reflection pages. The Best Behavior Board Book Set is a collection of durable board books written in simple, rhythmic text with bright illustrations and diverse characters, each including a caregiver discussion and activity section built for repeat reading. The Special Supplies Hand and Finger Therapy Bundle is a 15-piece set of BPA-free silicone tools: six colorful therapy putties, three ringed finger exercisers, three hand and finger exercisers, and three egg-shaped grip exercisers, labeled by the manufacturer for ages 6 and up (the guide explains how to include younger children safely by having an adult model the motion or substitute a larger stress ball). The Floor Surfer Roller Board is a physiotherapist-developed gross motor and balance board measuring 22.44 by 15.35 by 5.51 inches, rated for any motor skill level with a 220.5 pound weight capacity and a design that protects hands and limbs during play.
Additional Supplies Suggested (sold separately)
Crayons or washable markers for the workbook's breathing and anger-monster pages, a notebook or journal for worksheet responses, clear open floor space with a non-slip surface for the Floor Surfer, a timer for breathing rounds and calm-down breaks, and an optional sticker or reward chart. An age-appropriate stress ball is an optional fine-motor substitute for children under the therapy bundle's minimum age.
Curriculum Overview
The 28-page guide is built on a social-emotional core and runs two tracks that meet in the middle. The Academic and Language track lives in the board books and workbook, where children learn that a feeling has a name, that anger has a trigger, and that a thought can be swapped for a more helpful one. The Regulation track lives in the therapy putty bundle and the Floor Surfer, where a child's body actually does something with the energy behind the feeling, squeezing, stretching, rolling, or rocking. The guide treats anger as a normal, necessary emotion, with the goal not of a child who never feels angry but of a child who can name the feeling, understands where it comes from, and has more than one strategy to move through it. It aligns to Head Start ELOF, CASEL SEL, the National Health Education Standards, CCSS ELA, and SHAPE America PE standards.
Grade Band Summary
PreK-K (Little Calm Bodies, Big Feelings) build early feelings vocabulary through board book read-alouds, practice simple adult-guided breathing and Floor Surfer calming, and begin to tell the difference between a big feeling and a calm body. Grades 1-2 (Meet Your Anger Monster) identify personal triggers, connect thoughts to feelings and actions, and build a repertoire of breathing, fine motor, and gross motor strategies for moving through a big feeling.
