Grades 6+ Full Size Electric Guitar Curriculum Set
Full Size Electric Guitar and Amplifier Kit with Music Education Curriculum! A complete electric guitar starter kit paired with a 25-page standards-aligned music education curriculum covering grades 6 through 12.
What's Included:
The kit includes a full-size (39") Stratocaster-style electric guitar in sunburst finish with a maple neck, three single-coil pickups, 5-way pickup selector, volume and tone controls, and tremolo bridge. The GA-20 practice amplifier features gain, bass, treble, and volume controls, a headphone jack for silent practice, and an MP3/aux input for playing along with music. Also included: instrument cable, padded gig bag, adjustable guitar strap, pick, tremolo bar, and truss rod tool. Everything needed to plug in and play on day one.
Additional Supplies Suggested (sold separately):
A clip-on tuner is recommended for keeping the guitar in tune (free tuner apps also work). Extra strings and a pick variety pack are helpful to have on hand since strings break and different pick thicknesses produce different sounds. A guitar stand keeps the instrument visible and accessible, which encourages more frequent practice. A music notebook is useful for the curriculum worksheet activities.
The 25-page Music Education Curriculum Guide covers two grade bands (grades 6-8 and grades 9-12), each with learning objectives, structured units, and alignment to National Core Arts Standards (Creating, Performing, Responding, Connecting), NGSS (sound waves, frequency, electromagnetic induction, energy transfer), CCSS Math (ratios, frequency relationships, time signatures, data tracking), CCSS ELA (descriptive writing, research, presentations), and CTE Arts, Media, and Entertainment pathway standards.
The curriculum follows three integrated learning tracks. Music Performance covers tuning, posture, pick technique, 8 open chords, chord transitions, tablature reading, power chords, barre chords, pentatonic scale soloing, and playing along with music through the amp's aux input. Music Theory covers the musical alphabet, fret-to-note relationships, time signatures, chord progressions, song structure, and key identification. Sound Science covers the physics of how an electric guitar produces sound, from string vibration through electromagnetic induction in the pickups, signal amplification, waveform clipping (distortion), and frequency shaping through EQ controls. Every concept is explored hands-on through the guitar and amplifier, not from a textbook.
Includes 11 printable worksheets: guitar anatomy diagram, chord reference cards, tablature reading exercises with space to write original TAB, a weekly practice log, music theory fundamentals, a science of sound investigation with frequency data and pickup experiments, a songwriting workshop with full composition framework, an amp settings lab, a genre study comparing three musical styles, a music career research planner, and a performance reflection journal.
Additional sections cover a complete guitar anatomy guide with all 15 parts explained, an amplifier controls reference with starter settings for every knob, a signal chain explainer showing how vibration becomes sound, a curated list of free online learning resources (JustinGuitar, Ultimate Guitar, Fender Play, and more), and a full care and maintenance guide covering string changes, daily cleaning, storage, and what to avoid.
Designed for homeschool families, music classrooms, after-school programs, and independent learners. Curriculum guide delivered digitally as a PDF after purchase.
